Table and chairsMay 01, 2011
By Colby Blodget This item arrived promptly. I was painting the room it was destined for and it wasn't assembled for a few weeks until the painting was complete. When I went to assemble it I found that the instructions and hardware for the table was missing. All the hardware for the chairs was present.
I emailed both the seller and the manufacturer about the missing instructions and hardware. Nine days later I received a small package via UPS that contained about half the hardware and no instructions. I emailed the manufacturer again and--rather than wait another 9 days--I replaced the missing nuts and washers at Home Depot. The next day, another UPS package showed up with the correct hardware and no instructions.
The manufacturer provided a 13mm open end wrench and an Allen wrench for assembly. Since assembling the chairs and table involved driving 32 wood Allen screws at least an inch into bare wood, the Allen wrench was a silly solution. I snapped the "L" portion of it off in a vise and mounted the straight section into a power drill. Having produced this tool, assembly was a snap except for putting the legs on the table. This required getting about 8" down inside the hollow pedestal with an open end wrench and turning 8 nuts through about 10 full turns while being able to turn each nut only about 1/8 turn before having to re-position the wrench.
Having whined about all of that, this is a very nice table with folding leaves and the chairs are attractive and functional. All of it is very good quality, and I would not hesitate to buy it again.
