2Not durableNov 06, 2010
By C. Dickinson
We bought the cherry wood model in 2009. Great looking unit, price seemed ok, no proublems with shipping or seller. My low rating is for the design, durability of the bed. The wood posts are up to the job, its the metal that is too thin to support anyone over approx. 60 lbs. The wall thickness of some of the tubing is .023 thou. of an inch (a manila folder is .010 thou. thick). That would explain the shipping weight of 136 lbs. with 40 of that being the wood corner posts. After assembling the first issue I realized was the rungs of the ladder are very small diameter round tubing, uncomfortable to step on. I welded up a new one with flat rungs 1 1/2" wide. Over the past year and a half several tubes bent and cracked including the front lower main rectangular tube. Once again I have no proublem with the seller, they don't make the bed (ha ha), they just sell it. I didn't try to contact them as the bending and cracking started months latter. Just want to warn people about how frail the metal tubes are.
